- KC-Experience: 4x transplantiert, 3x an einem auge, immunsuppression wegen ständiger transplantatabstoßungen, glaukom bereits mehrmals operiert, beginnender katarakt an beiden augen. visus mit brille um die 35%. Kontaklinsenunverträglichkeit .
augen-op´s insges. 13x. bin bei prof. th. neuhann in behandlung.
5. transpl. steht in den starlöchern.??? mehr oder weniger. das 5. transplantat war bereits am anfang märz 08 gefunden worden. 2 h später, anruf vom Prof. er könne es nicht nehmen. jetzt muß ich also weiter warten.
nävus auf der netzhaut inoperabel, tumor in der orbita nähe des sehnerves.
visus bleibt erwiesenermaßen schlecht, bzw. verschlechtert sich zumindest in der nähe und an den äußeren gesichtsfeldrändern. visus scheint irgendwie zu stagnieren, komme gerade so zurecht, wobei das Lesen immer schwieriger wird. - Experience with eyeglasses / lenses: Sehr schnell wurden mir harte KC-Linsen angepaßt, die sich aber andauernd veränderten, so, daß der Anpasser gar nciht mehr nachgekommen ist.
- Operationen: 1999 wurde die erste Keratoplastik gemacht. s.o. bei und von Prof. Thomas Neuhann. Alle anderen Keratoplastiken (mit wachsendem Vergnügen, ebenfalls vom Prof. Neuhann der sich absolut rührend um mich kümmert. Div. Trabekulektomien, Div. Cortisonspülungen....................alles zwar Operationen, aber immer irgendwie im Vorbeigehen.

what do you mean with "shocking"??? i think, these eyes aren't soooo bad. it gets better and better, or....sorry, if i'm wrong, but i've seen more terrible kc's.
please can you explain me, why for you these endothelian picture is shocking.

Go in to the site and look at the pictures labeled "OD Endotelio Feb2005 OS(KC)" and to the right hand side of those pictures is a picture of normal Endolithium cells with the Hexagonal shape (which was found on the internet)
Now the picture labeled "OD Endotelio Feb2005 OS(KC)" (in Italian) are the pictures I am talking about... I tried to put the links up on kc global but since my friend who's site it is put password protection on to his site the links don't work properly with out going through the password protection as mentioned in my previous post...
Now... these cells in the pictures look dried up and damaged? Now i was wondering if anyone else knows if this is a feature of KC or is it normal in middle age for Endolithium Cells to be come like is? I was reading that the amount of Endolithium Cells decline as we age and that we have the full amount when we are born... I also read that these cells carry fluids away... so does this mean for kc patients that the naturally lowering Endolithium Cells count PLUS a very thin cornea results in Hydrops?... as fluid pushes out though the very thin cornea? Should we as patients have an Endolithium Cell count done as part of our check-ups to see if there is a marked lowering of Endolithium Cells?
I have no idea about these pictures... I asked Dr Abbondanza to comment (as he is the Dr who took the pictures... as yet he has not!) this is why i thought i'll ask here....

Mein Keratokonus ist immer noch aktiv. Ich hoffe das er irgendwann einmal zum stehen kommt (die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt). Alles in allem sollte man diese Erkrankung frei nach Monthy Python betrachten: ...Always look on the bright site of life
Alles in allem habe ich wider Erwarten gute Erfahrungen mit meinen harten Kontaktlinsen gemacht. Tragezeiten von bis zu 18+ Stunden sind inzwischen machbar.

I like international games ... the england Vs germany matches are always such good games to watch... the world cup is very close by as well... England and Germany in the finals!

I visited a very top-class private Doctor in central london today... he did an eye examination and tests for nearly two and a half hours! very professional and detailed I must say! His name is Dr David Jory. This is his site http://www.lcrs.co.uk He has done 10,000 RK operations and still does them! (please read through his site its very interesting norbert! Please email Hari for more info. you will be glad you did! )
Anyway he told me the Endolithium pictures are normal... as we age they look old too! lol
You see ...as the Endolithium cell count goes down (as we age)... fluid is not pumped away... in a normal cornea there is not a problem... but if your cornea is too thin then this this fluid can tear though the thin cornea and this is what they call "Hydrops" so keep an eye on the thickness of your cornea (i am sure you guys do!)
